Transfer between Foz do Iguaçu and Ciudad del Este

The two routes and what they cost

Foz do Iguaçu sits on the other side of the Friendship Bridge, a few kilometres from the centre of Ciudad del Este, and has two entry points that almost everyone uses: the Foz do Iguaçu international airport (IGU) and the bus terminal. LTO covers both, in both directions, at the same rate each way.

From Foz airport (IGU) to Ciudad del Este

If you fly into Foz and stay on the Paraguayan side, the driver meets you at arrivals with a name sign and takes you straight to the hotel, with no stops and no other passengers. It is the option most requested by people landing at night or with heavy luggage who would rather not negotiate the bridge crossing on arrival.

We need the flight number when you book. With it we follow the actual arrival and the driver adjusts if the flight is early or delayed. The same service works in reverse: we collect you from your hotel in Ciudad del Este and drop you at the airport door. Tell us your departure time and we will set the pick-up with margin for the crossing.

From the Foz bus terminal to Ciudad del Este

The Foz terminal handles the long-distance coaches arriving from Curitiba, São Paulo, Florianópolis and much of southern Brazil. You get off the coach and the LTO driver is waiting: Gs 350.000 for a vehicle carrying up to 4 passengers, Gs 650.000 up to 10 and Gs 1.200.000 up to 16.

Which vehicle you get

• Up to 3 passengers with light luggage: Mercedes GLA 200 or MG ZS, 3+1.
• Up to 4 passengers: Mercedes ML 350, Ford Ranger or Chevrolet S10, 4+1.
• Up to 6 passengers: Ford Explorer, 6+1, comfortable for a family with suitcases.
• Up to 10 passengers: Hyundai H1, 10+1.
• Up to 14 or 16 passengers: Maxus V90 seating 14+1 or Foton seating 16+1.
• Larger groups: Mercedes Sprinter 19+1 and Volare V8L 30+2, quoted separately.

If you land at IGU and stay on the Paraguayan side

More and more travellers fly into IGU, the airport with the most frequencies in the region, and stay in Ciudad del Este. It makes sense: you sleep on the Paraguayan side, shop without crossing back, and the tours to the Itaipu Dam, Monday Falls and the Iguazú Falls all leave from there.

In that case the usual approach is to book both legs at once, the arrival and the return to IGU, and have them scheduled from day one. Send us both dates in the same message and we will confirm them together.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Paraguay?

It depends on your nationality. Brazilian, Argentine and Uruguayan citizens do not; a valid national ID is enough. Other nationalities should check the current requirement for their passport before travelling — it is set by immigration authorities, not by us.

Is the rate per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. The Gs 450.000 for Foz airport and the Gs 350.000 for the bus terminal cover the whole trip for up to 4 passengers, whether one person travels or four.

Does the return cost the same as the outbound?

Yes, the leg is charged the same in both directions. If you book a return, both legs are charged.

Will the driver wait at the airport?

Yes, at arrivals with a name sign. Send us the flight number when booking so the driver can follow the actual landing time.

Can I hire the transfer and keep it waiting while I shop?

Yes, the vehicle can be hired with the driver at your disposal for the day. Message us with the date and the hours you need and we will quote it.
