It leaves from Asunción, not Ciudad del Este

The meeting point is Plaza Comuneros – Loma Kavará in Asunción, and the tour ends at the same place. Travel from Ciudad del Este or Foz do Iguaçu is not included. If you are in Ciudad del Este, the LTO departure that covers the whole trip is the Asunción Capital Tour (page in Spanish), a two-day package that leaves Shopping del Este on Saturdays.

What the tour is about

7 Hills of Asunción sets out to show the capital from a different angle: it covers some of the most representative places in the city and tells the story of the seven hills on which Asunción grew. Along the way you see historic, cultural and panoramic sites that help explain how Asunción has changed from its founding to the present, with stories, curiosities and events that shaped the identity of the “Mother of Cities” (Madre de Ciudades).

Which hills and sites are included, in what order and how long the tour lasts are confirmed on WhatsApp when you book.

Price, departures and meeting point

7 Hills of Asunción costs Gs 70.000 per person, in Paraguayan guaraníes, snack included. For comparison, the Asunción City Tour (in Spanish), which covers the historic centre Tuesday to Friday from Shopping del Sol, costs USD 25.

There are two departures, one at 16:00 and one at 18:00, both from Plaza Comuneros – Loma Kavará. There is no fixed date: the day is arranged on WhatsApp, subject to availability. Places are limited, so it is worth booking early. If you need to know when the tour ends, ask us and we will confirm.

The seven hills and Loma Kavará

Asunción began as a fort founded on 15 August 1537 by Juan de Salazar de Espinosa and became a city in 1541, when its Cabildo (town council) was created. It grew over a series of hills beside the Paraguay River: the “seven hills” that, according to tradition, could be seen from the river when arriving in the city.

Loma Kavará, where Plaza Comuneros stands and the tour begins, is considered the founding site of Asunción. The city is known as the “Mother of Cities” because the expeditions that founded other cities in the region, Buenos Aires among them, set out from here.
